Charles Rollo Peters III (1892-1967) was born in Paris, but moved to California when he was five. He was an actor, scenic designer, director, producer and co-founder of the New York Theatre Guild. He designed the costumes for George Pierce Baker's 1921 The Pilgrim Spirit: a pageant in celebration of the tercentenary of the landing of the Pilgrims at Plymouth, Massachusetts, December 21, 1620.
